New Delhi: A scuffle was reported in the national capital on Wednesday where three Muslim youth were allegedly beaten up for not chanting “Jai Mata Di”. However, on further interrogation the three youth spilled the beans and said that they had got into a scuffle with another group and were beaten-up.
In Begampur area of New Delhi, the three men got into an argument and a scuffle with a group. Mohammad Dilkash, one of the youth who were beaten-up, said he was out with his friends and they got engaged in a tussle with a group of people who assaulted them and asked them to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Mata Di” and threatened them of dire consequences if not complied with.
However, the three soon changed their statement and said they were not asked to chant anything but instead had gotten into an argument which escalated and a few blows were exchanged.
Uncle of one of the accused, refuting any theory about the kids being asked to chant anything, said that the boys were playing cricket and subsequently had an argument leading to a rough exchange.
All the five people allegedly involved in assaulting three Muslim youth have been booked under under sections 323, 325, 506, 341, 34, 36 of IPC.
