Flyover collapses in Kolkata

Kolkata: A portion of flyover collapsed in Girish Park area of north Kolkata on Thursday afternoon.
The flyover is one of Kolkata’s longest, connecting Girish Park in north Kolkata to Howrah. The flyover is named as Vivekanada Setu. 
Rescue operations have reached the place and the operation is underway. 14 are reported to be dead and 78 are injured.  
According to eye witnesses about 150 people are trapped under debris. Cars, buses have also been crushed under debris.
"We heard a noise and got scared. Yesterday it was welded. The bridge collapsed," Ramesh Kejriwal, an eyewitness, said. "It was a powerful collapse; sent shivers down my spine," another eye-witness added.
The army, police and ambulances have reached the accident spot to evacuate the victims.
Reports say, the flyover was being built in a densely populated area and was under construction for over five years now. 
Two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team have been rushed to the spot and the injured have been rushed to hospitals. 
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has cancelled her rally and rushed to the accident site. 
BJP has demanded a high-level probe, and wants the concerned minister to come up with the facts or resign.
