NEW DELHI: After a 56-day sabbatical, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday made his first public appearance and met delegations of farmers at his residence in the national capital.
The 44-year-old Gandhi, who returned home on Thursday from ‘leave of absence’, met about a dozen groups of farmers from different states ahead of his mega ‘Kisan’ rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday and held discussions with farmers over the Land Acquisition Bill.
The meeting with farmers was scheduled on Friday but later it was deferred for Saturday.
The Congress Vice-President will lead the Kisan rally against Land Acquisition Amendment Bill and address the farmers at the rally along with the party President Sonia Gandhi.
Rahul had been on a leave of absence since the Parliament's budget session began on February 23 but where Gandhi actually spent his holiday it is still unknown.
