New Delhi: A strong earthquake measuring 6.8 on richter scale jolted the entire North India this afternoon at 4 pm.
The quake struck at a depth of 236 km with epicentre determined in Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region, Dawn online quoted Pakistan Meteorological Department as saying.
Tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat Valley, Chitral, and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. No casualties has been reported yet.
The epicentre of the earthquake was Afganistan while tremores were also felt in National capital, Srinagar and Chandigarh.
Fear and panic spread among residents who rushed out of their houses.
