New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday slammed BJP saying that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi helps rich people to flee from the country and does not take any action against them.
In a major setback for liquor baron Vijay Mallya, his passport will be revoked in connection with the Rs 9000 crore IDBI bank loan fraud case.
Vijay Mallya not following the self-said deadlines to appear in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is one of the chief reasons why the ED asked the Ministry of External Affairs to take action under the Passport Act, 1967 and the Regional Passport Office (RPO) here to revoke the diplomatic passport.
PC Chacko speaking to NewsX said, “Vijay Mallya left the country when he was under the notice of ED with consent of the BJP leaders. When Mallya was leaving for Delhi he was with top BJP leaders and this action (passport revocation) is not enough for the major crime he is involved in.”
Mallya, who is facing legal proceedings for alleged default of loans worth over Rs 9,000 crore from various banks, was also directed by the Supreme Court to disclose all assets owned by him and his family in India and abroad by April 21.
