Nagpur: Jawarharlal Nehru University (JNU) students’ union leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Thursday was attacked by workers belonging to the Bajrang Dal. Kanhaiya arrived in Nagpur to address a public gathering.
As per reports, the members of Bajrang Dal hurled a shoe at the JNUSU leader while he was addressing a public gathering in Nagpur. However, Kanhaiya escaped unhurt but the incident triggered panic among the crowd after which police had to safeguard him.
Earlier Kanhaiya was attacked by a group of Bajrang Dal activists who pelted stones at his car.
Police have detained five people in this connection.
This is Kanhaiya Kumar’s first visit to Nagpur. He had come to the city to address a meeting to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Kanhaiya is very influenced by Ambedkar’s ideals.
