Six coaches of two Rajdhani trains destroyed in fire at New Delhi Railway Station

NEW DELHI: Six coaches of two finest trains including the Bhubaneshwar and Sealdah Rajdhanis parked in the yard at the New Delhi railway station was gutted in a fire on Tuesday afternoon. 

Even though there were several employees on duty, no injury has been reported in the blaze that took place while the coaches were parked on the washing lines. The fire first started at 12:15 PM, a railway official informed.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and the General Manager of the Northern Railway has created a committee of senior officials to investigate the incident, informed Northern Railway spokesperson Neeraj Sharma.

The officials informed that the power supply to OHE lines was stopped as the precautionary measure that affected train operation from the city’s busiest station for a while.
