Hyderabad: As the heat wave intensifies in the state of Telangana, a video has gone viral on the Internet where a woman from the Karimnagar region of the state is seen cooking an omelette on her open porch without any fire in the vicinity.

It has not even been a week since the Indian Meteorological Department warned of an intense heat wave sweeping over eight states, with Telangana being the hottest. With the temperatures fluctuating between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius, the heat waves have already hit the state claiming over 65 lives.

The state is likely to continue to suffer from the heat over the next few days, stated the Meteorological Department.

“Precautionary measures are being taken in view of the forecast that the summer will be warmer”, stated the officials.

Oral rehydration solutions and intravenous fluids have been made available at public places. Construction workers and laborers have been instructed not to work between 12 pm to 3 pm.

The government has also declared early summer vacations in schools in the wake of the continuing intense heat wave.

Last year too, the heat wave claimed more than 2000 lives in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
