Chennai: Sycophancy seems to be touching a new low. Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru O Panneerselvam as well as several other AIADMK leaders were seen bending down to touch a road in Chennai on which party chief was travelling.
This was a way of showing ‘respect’ to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
The public display of sycophancy was witnessed when Jayalalithaa went to file her nomination papers in Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency of North Chennai for the May 16 Assembly election.

Panneerselvam and other leaders wished her with folded hands when Jayalalithaa stopped her SUV car outside the corporation office. Then they bent and worshipped the ground to show devotion as her SUV car went past them.
DMK leader Kanimozhi accused Jayalalithaa of playing games for petty electoral benefits on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue. She claimed that the latter had raised this issue just two days prior to the Election Commission's notification for the Assembly polls.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa alleged that both DMK and Congress were responsible for the destruction of Sri Lankan Tamils.
