New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a preliminary inquiry in the sting video showing the Uttarakhand Chief Minister purportedly offering illegal gratification pertaining to floor tests in the legislation.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat who was recently ousted from his office via the imposition of President's Rule in the state of Uttarakhand by the Centre, has been a subject of massive controversy relating to the release of a sting video where he is seen offering bribes for political support.
The sting video is major political evidence which the BJP is deploying to justify the imposition of President's Rule in the state. The individual behind the sting video was summoned to the CBI headquarters for inquiry.
The Uttarakhand government had requested for a CBI probe into the matter of the illegal gratification caught on tape to which the Centre had concurred.
