Mumbai: A three-storey building in Kamathipura area of south Mumbai abruptly collapsed on Saturday afternoon without any apparent reason. Five individuals are feared dead and many more injured in the building collapse.
Eight people have been rescued from the debris; five have succumbed to their injuries. The injured persons have been sent JJ and Nair hospitals. Three ambulances have been rushed to spot for rescue operations.
Eight fire engines were rushed immediately to the spot lest the situation would become more volatile. The fire-fighters are searching for any individuals who might be trapped amidst the rubble.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed serious concerns about the condition of dilapidated buildings and the festering business of illegal alteration on top of it.
