After Uttarakhand and Himachal, forest fire now rages in J&K

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in the Rajouri district on Sunday evening. The fire broke out in the forest areas of Bathuni and Gambir in forest divisions of Rajouri. This is the first incident of this year where forest fire in the Rajouri district has consumed many small and big trees. 

The forest dept have deputed the forest protection force to control the fire but the fire is extending to the other forest areas also. Few days back, the fire broke out in the Trikuta Hills in the Vaishno Devi area.

In the past month, fires have broken out in more than 1200 places and more than 1900 hectares of forest have been affected, the Environment ministry said in a statement.
