Raipur: In an unfortunate incident on Wednesday night, a bus fell off a small bridge into a dry rivulet in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district killing 13 people and injuring more than 53.
The private luxury bus was on its way to Raipur from Gadhwa which is in neighbouring Jharkhand state. The accident took place at around 10:30 pm at Daldhowa ghat, 400 km from Raipur.
As per reports, it is being said that the bus driver spotted a motorcycle at a sharp curve and while trying to save the biker he lost control and steered sharply to one side because of which the vehicle skid into the rivulet and overturned.
Some eyewitnesses have claimed that they saw the bus overturn about three to four times. The SP of the area has also confirmed the same. Sources say the number of lost lives could be on the rise.
Rescue teams have rushed to the spot and a police team is investigating the matter.
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh has expressed grief over the accident and has conveyed his condonlences to the families who lost their loved ones.
