TMC leader shot at in West Bengal

Murshidabad: TMC district secretary, Subir Sarkar has been reportedly shot at in Baharampur,West Bengal. He has been admitted to a hospital with serious injuries. Party members allege CPI(M) members are behind this attack.
Although most of the voting till now was peaceful, there were other incidences of sporadic violence in the final phase of polling in West Bengal.
Incidentally, poll violence is not new in the state. Since the inception of party-politics in Bengal, such incidences have always made it to the headlines. 
As the state enters its final leg of polling, security has been further beefed up; considering few incidences of violence that have come to the fore. There are 25 seats in fray and Purba Medinipur and Cooch Behar districts have been put under heavy security. 
As many as 58.04 lakh voters will decide the fate of 170 candidates. Of the total voters, 27.8 lakh are women while voters of the third gender number 68.
