Mumbai: The four accused in the Keenan-Reuben murder case have finally been convicted five years after two young men, Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandez, were killed on a Mumbai street. The duo succumbed to their injuries while trying to save their women friends from harassment.
The four accused; Jitendra Rana, Sunil Bodh, Satish Dulhaj and Dipak Tival were reportedly arrested the day after the crime took place.
Now, terming this as a historic verdict, Keenen's father has welcomed the court's order on life imprisonment to the convicts.
While speaking to NewsX, Keenen's father Valerian Santos said,"I was not expecting a capital punishment since this was not the rarest of the rare case. But, I am happy with the court's verdict of life imprisonment till death and not just 14 years of life imprisonment.”
Keenan, then 24, and Reuben, 29, were killed on the fateful night of October 20, 2011, when they stood up to a man who was sexually harassing their women friends, including Keenan’s girlfriend Priyanka Fenandes.
