Subrata Roy granted 4-week parole after mother passes away

New Delhi: Founder of Sahara India, Subrata Roy, who is serving prison sentence in a dispute with market regulator SEBI, was granted a 4-week parole to perform his mother's last rites.
Chabbi Roy, passed away around 1:30am at Lucknow on 6th May. At the time of Subrata's prosecution, his mother had cited poor health and stated that she needed her eldest son by her side. 
Subrata had earlier moved the Supreme Court seeking a three-week parole to perform the last rites for his demised mother. The matter had been mentioned before a bench headed by chief justice TS Thakur who stated that the appeal would be heard at 2pm. 
Subrata Roy, who has been prosecuted for non-payment of capital to Sahara investors, has been in Tihar jail for two years.
