Chamoli: A huge cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli and Champawat areas on Sunday led to the blocking of the Badrinath Highway.

No casualties have been reported so far but several houses were submerged and many vehicles washed away. Rescue operations are currently underway.

Being a flood-prone area, people living nearby have been advised to move to safer places as the rain is still pouring in the region.

Meanwhile, the government has claimed that they have taken measures to control the situation.

In 2013, Uttarakhand faced a devastating flash flood after a cloudburst had taken place. Thousands of people had died and a huge loss of property and land was witnessed.
