Uttarakhand: SC to hear rebel Cong MLA's plea now

Uttarakhand: Barely after 30 minutes of HC ruling on the rebel MLA's plea, they challenged the court's decision in the Supreme Court. The apex court will now pass the order at 4 pm today.
The MLAs moved the Supreme Court after the Uttarakhand high court dismissed plea challenging their disbarment from the state Assembly earlier in the day moments after the high court pronounced its order.
This comes as a major setback for the BJP and likely to benefit the former chief minister (CM) Harish Rawat
Rawat had accused the NDA government and the BJP of indulging in "politics of blackmail" and creating "unrest" in the state. He also alleged that Congress MLAs are being threatened.

The former CM has faced allegations of horse-trading after a purported sting video allegedly showed him negotiating to bring back the rebel legislators.
The Supreme Court had, on Friday, ordered that a floor test be conducted in the Uttarakhand Assembly on May 10 when Harish Rawat will seek a vote of confidence.
