'Xplained': Uttarakhand floor test process
Dehradun: Let's take a look at how the floor test was conducted in the Uttarakhand Assembly in which Congress' Harish Rawat was put to scrutiny.

Uttarakhand has 71 members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), which is now in suspended animation (under President's rule). Uttarakhand has been under President's Rule since March 27 when the Cong government was dismissed by the central govt citing mis-governance in the hill state.
Uttarakhand floor test process:
1)  The Speaker explains the entire procedure of voting and protocols to the members of the house.
2) Those supporting former Chief Minister, Harish Rawat sit on the treasury bench and those opposing him remain on the opposite side of the treasury bench.
3) Motion is called.
4) Now, all those supporting Harish Rawat are asked to raise their hands. Following which, those opposing the CM are asked to raise their hands.
5) Each vote is counted and documented. The entire process is video graphed.
6) After the completion of the entire process, details will be communicated to the Supreme Court by the Observer tomorrow.
