Vijaypura: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services said on Tuesday that there are no bird flu deaths in Vijaypura and people can consume chicken without fear. The department conducted tests in five taluks of the district on a weekly basis and said no bird has been found to be infected with the disease.
“We have different types of tests to check the viral condition of birds that include conducting blood tests and examining the waste from chicken shops. We could not find any infection from the regular tests,” the officials told a leading newspaper.
The Vijaypura district has around 130 poultry farms.
The Karnataka govt sounded a high alert against bird flu on Sunday after nearly 23,000 chickens died at a poultry farm at Molkera village in Humnabad taluk of Bidar district.
