Tamil Nadu honour killing victim attempts suicide

Coimbatore: A month after a 21-year-old Sankar was hacked to death in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, his wife Kausalya attempted to commit suicide by consuming cow dung powder on Thursday morning.
The victim has been admitted to a hospital and has been kept under constant observation.
Sources reveal that the reason behind her taking such a step is depression which has affected her since the death of her beloved husband.
The brutal honour killing took place on March 14 in broad daylight as five assailants attacked the couple with sickles and machetes in public view. The boy succumbed to injuries then and there.
According to sources, the couple had eloped to get married in August 2015. The girl's family was against the marriage as the family belongs to upper caste Devar community while the boy was from a lower caste.
