NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the privilege notice issued to renowned author Shobhaa De over her tweets criticising the Maharashtra government’s decision on Marathi films.
The Court also issued notice to Principal Secretary of Maharashtra Assembly.
Earlier this month, the Maharashtra legislature secretary had issued a privilege notice to writer Shobhaa De and asked her to explain the tweets she posted on her Twitter handle about the state’s government decision to make the screening of Marathi movies during prime time mandatory. Shobhaa De, criticising the Maharashtra government for its order on Marathi movies, expressed her views on Twitter and said “I love Marathi movies. Let me decide when and where to watch them, Devendra Fadnavis.
