"I have been telling that Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur was wrongly accused," said the advocate.

Mumbai: On the charge sheet filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) pertaining to the 2008 Malegaon blast case, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Mahesh Jethmalani on Friday confirmed that there were clear politics involved in the case.
The son of Indian politician Ram Jethmalani confessed that there was a lot of political layering in these types of cases. Mahesh exclaimed that the NIA and the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) did not have the right individuals accused. He commended the fact that innocent people had been dropped out of the case.
"I have been telling that Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur was wrongly accused," said the advocate of the Hindu activist who was recently acquitted of all charges.
"There are lots of advocates who are willing to fight for her," he added.
Commenting on the probe conducted by the then Chief of the Mumbai ATS Hemant Karkare, Mahesh said, "He was an honest officer. I do not believe that he had filed a false case."
However, Mahesh Jethmalani confirmed the alleged obscurity of the probe.
"I think it is shocking that the agencies file contradictory cases. There was politics involved in the case."
As of 13th May 2016, NIA has given a clean chit to Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and other five-accused in the case.
