Mumbai: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered to withdraw the expenditure estimate of the water transported to the drought affected Latur, on an urgent basis.

After ferrying water to Maharashtra's drought affected Latur for a month, the Railways has reportedly presented a bill of Rs. 4 crore to the district collector. The Railways, however, claim they sent the bill following a request by the administration to judge the estimated amount.
The Railways has reportedly said it is upto the district collector to pay the amount or seek waiver t it.
It is worth noting here that the Centre in accordance with the protocols, allocates funds to every state for such calamities. Railway department has provided 6.2 cr litres of water to the parched region.
