Vijayawada: Cyberabad police have registered a case against a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Venkateswara Rao, corporator of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation for molesting a woman in a flight.

The corporator has been booked under IPC 354 which deals in assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.

The complainant said that Rao misbehaved with her and tried to deliberately touch her while travelling by Air India flight from Delhi to Hyderabad.

She complained to the airways staff and also filed the charge against the corporator at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police station.

However, the accused TDP corporator was reportedly let off within an hour after his detention by the police following the pressure from a ruling party MP.

Rao, along with a group of corporators, were returning after a study tour funded by the VMC.
