Mumbai: With so many cases of molestation being reported, one gets to hear of an equal number of cases of people being killed, who try to save girls from being molested or raped.

A prime example is that of the Keenen-Reuben murder case were the two young men were killed while trying to fight eve-teasers. The case ran for almost 5 years and the accused were granted life imprisonment by the Bombay High Court in April 2016.

A similar gruesome incident took place on May 13 in North Maharashtra’s Dhule district, where an Army jawan was stabbed to death while trying to protect his cousin from eve-teasers.

Identified as Vinod Pawar, the jawan was visiting his native place in Sakri ‘tehsil’ on leave.

On the fateful day, around 10 people allegedly molested Pawar’s cousin. When the jawan intervened trying to protect his cousin, the group attacked him and stabbed him several times with knives. The assault was so severe that the jawan succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

So far, the police have been successful in arresting eight of the alleged attackers and further investigation is underway.
