Kolkata: The Youth Congress staged a protest in Jadavpur with regard to the May 6 incident where clashes broke out between Left-leaning and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) students.
West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Dilip Ghosh in his recent statement made a derogatory remark which has sparked off a controversy. He had said that the women at Jadavpur University who alleged molestation by the ABVP leaders were shameless.
Ghosh said that the women shouldn't have participated in the protests. He also alleged that the women threw themselves at the accused men.
“BJP thought that if I say such words against some women, it will become news as it has been done by the Trinamool Congress also. BJP has started the same practice. I believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take care of it,” said Congress leader Pradip Bhattacharya.
The agitating Congress leaders burnt the effigies of Dilip Ghosh in Jadavpur to protest against his shocking sexism and demanded the removal of the chief from his post in West Bengal.
