New Delhi: In a turn of events for Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, sources on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may remove her from the post after a negative report of her work was sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Patel is likely to be made Punjab Governor soon. Sources in the BJP said Nitinbhai Patel, a senior party leader, was likely to succeed Anandiben.

Sources said the BJP top brass wanted a change of guard in Gujarat in view of the Patel agitation.

She is the first woman Chief Minister of the state. She was the cabinet minister of road and building, revenue, urban development and urban housing, disaster management and capital projects in the government of Gujarat from 2007 to 2014.
