Bangalore: A shocking case of rash driving emerged on Monday when Samrat Chadha, the vice president of UB group crashed his BMW into an auto-rickshaw leaving 4 people injured.
Those injured in the accident were rushed to a nearby hospital and are reportedly out of danger.
Samrat has been accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and also for driving on the wrong side of the road.
“He was clearly under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place,” said CK Baba, deputy commissioner of police, traffic (east).
However, after he was taken into custody, he refused to undergo the alcometer tests by the police.
Three cases – under IPC sections 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others ), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act (driving by a drunken person or bya person under the influence of drugs) – were registered against Chadha.
The incident happened around 11.30pm on GM Palya Main Road, off CV Raman Nagar in East Bengaluru.
The white BMW he was driving has been seized in east traffic station.
