Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the Bombay High Court to expedite the Jiah Khan suicide case involving Sooraj Pancholi, son of Aditya Pancholi.

Earlier, the prosecution in the model-turned-actress Jiah Khan suicide case on May 6 had sought to invoke murder charge against Sooraj Pancholi accused of playing a major role in Jiah’s death.

Sooraj Pancholi's lawyer Prashant Patil had then responded stating there was no evidence for framing the charges of murder against Pancholi Jr.

Jiah Khan's mother Rabiya Khan, had also appealed to the court to slap a murder charge against the Sooraj, Jiah’s boyfriend.

The Nishabd actress was found dead in her apartment on June 3, 2013, and was said to have committed suicide. Her mother, Rabiya Khan, however, accused her ex-boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi of murdering her.

The Bombay High Court, on May 3, had lifted the stay on the trial against actor Sooraj Pancholi.

Rabiya Khan had also said that she had asked her daughter, who discussed all her relationship issues with Rabiya, to stay away from Sooraj Pancholi as he “did not love her”.
