The seven-year-old girl who was seriously injured when she was hit by a speeding car after she de-boarded her school bus lost her life today.
The girl was badly injured and was being treated at Medanta Hospital. Seven-year-old Jiya was allegedly dropped by the school bus on the opposite side near Krishna Colony on May 9 and was hit by a car while she was crossing the road to meet her mother.
However, school authorities refuted allegations of negligence. Peeya Sharma, Principal, told reporters that a teacher had accompanied the girl. The teacher got off the bus holding Jiya’s hand but a student shouted for help from the bus and she went back to attend the other student, the Principal said. She blamed the circumstantial confusion for Jiya’s crossing the road and meeting with an accident.
After the intense pressure created by the media and the family, the driver of the school bus who was on the run was booked by Gurugram Police under negligent driving.
This is a second reported incident from Ryan International School where a minor lost her life due to the ignorance of officials.
