Ex-actor Mamta suddenly has money to burn?

New Delhi: Mamata Kulkarni, the yesteryear Bollywood actor seems to have befriended someone with deep pockets recently. The actor's bank account in Badlapur had been regularly receiving large amounts of money from abroad for some months now.
The police suspects the large amount of money is being invested in real estate in Thane and Mumbai. Police are also questioning a couple of Bollywood distributors and a film financier In connection with the case after the cops reportedly found they were in regular touch with Mamta, who was no longer in touch with the film fraternity after 1990s.
Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has reportedly confirmed the probe against Mamta."We are investigating her bank transactions after it emerged that the account was receiving large deposits from abroad. We want to ascertain whether there is a hawala angle or drug money is being deposited in this account," Singh was quoted as saying.
Investigations have exposed that a Non Resident Rupee account was being used to pay the maintenance charges and other expenses related to Mamta's flats in Sky Anchorage building on Yari Road, Versova.
The flats have been reportedly in the name of Mamta Mukund Kulkarni, and the nominee's name is listed as Moulina Mukund Kulkarni, who is reportedly married to a non resident Indian.
The Sky Anchorage office-bearers and other residents reportedly have no knowledge of Mamata’s whereabouts, but they did claim to have seen a few people in the apartments for a day or two. The flats - 101, 201, and 701 - whose collective market value is estimated to be around Rs 15 crore, have no permanent residents for more than seven years now, but Mamta has reportedly been prompt in clearing all the society dues, and hasn't defaulted even once. Sources in the Mumbai Police say the flats were gifted to Mamta after her wedding.
