New Delhi: The Minister of Home Affairs of India, Kiren Rijiju, had a ‘remarkable’ experience on Wednesday when he flew in a Sukhoi-30MKI supersonic fighter jet of the Indian Air Force from the Halwara airbase in Punjab.

Rijiju is among a selected list of Indian dignitaries who have been invited by the IAF to fly the fighter jet. After the minister was declared medically fit for the elevation, the Defence Ministry had then approved Rijiju for the flight which was handled by an experienced fighter pilot.

The 30-minutes flight in the Sukhoi included various flight manoeuvres such as barrel-rolls and loops.

Kiren Rijiju is the third Minister of Home Affairs in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government to fly in the Sukhoi after Skill Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Defence Minister Rao Inderjit Singh.
