New Delhi: The nine Uttarakhand Congress rebel MLAs who snubbed Chief Minister Harish Rawat before the imposition of President’s Rule in the state of Uttarakhand on Wednesday evening, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The nine Uttarakhand Congress rebel MLAs were disallowed from voting for the majority in the Uttarakhand Floor Test where Harish Rawat emerged as the victor. Earlier this week, one of the MLAs, Subodh Uniyal, had told the press that they would consider whether launching of another political outfit was more doable or joining the BJP.

Ex-Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Vijay Bahuguna, also joined the BJP on Wednesday.

After Congress won the majority in the Uttarakhand floor test, the fate of these nine rebel MLAs reached an impasse.
