Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Thursday attended a press conference after trends showed her comfortably winning the Assembly Elections 2016. Banerjee began her speech in the conference by congratulating her TMC cadre.
The TMC chief thanked the people of Bengal for such a huge victory. “The opposition Congress and Left united to fight against us but people of Bengal supported us,” she said.
“The opposition tried their best to mislead and create an atmosphere of fear among people but they voted peacefully and fearlessly. I thank the Election Commission of India for conducting the polls peacefully,” the West Bengal Chief Minister said.
Mamata would now take initiative to develop her state and turn it into a beacon of hope in her region. She and her Cabinet will take oath on May 27, which is a Friday. Since Friday is an auspicious day for all religions, so she selected this day for her coming back to power.
Her party’s priority is economic development, education for children, women’s safety and eradication of poverty in the state, Banerjee said.
