New Delhi: Anurag Thakur, the Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) filed his nomination for the post of the President of the BCCI on Saturday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP is expected to be nominated unanimously for the position. Ajay Shirke will be replacing Anurag Thakur as the Honorary Secretary of the BCCI.
After Shashank Manohar stepped down from the BCCI president for the position of independent chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the most probable nomination after his replacement seemed to be Anurag Thakur.
The BCCI will be felicitating Shashank Manohar on Saturday, following which Anurag Thakur is expected to be unanimously voted for the position of the BCCI President.
Shashank Manohar has twice served as the President of the BCCI in 2008 and then in 2015.
This will be the first time Anurag Thakur is elected for the position of the Chief of BCCI.
