Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP minister Eknath Khadse has denied allegations of being in touch with gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
Speaking to NewsX, Khadse said that his telephone number has not been in use for a year. He added that cellular company IDEA has given in writing that no international call has been made or received from the number in question.
Maharashtra Minister went on to say that these allegations are being made to damage his reputation. “This is an attempt to malign my image; I am ready to face CBI probe to prove my innocence,” he said.
Launching an attack on Khadse, AAP leader Preeti Sharma Menon said that it was shocking to see Khadse’s number in Dawood’s call log. She also demanded the minister’s resignation.
