Srinagar: Jaish-e-Mohammed Pakistani Fidayeen Militant Commander Saifullah was killed in an encounter with police at Sarai Bala at Srinagar. Another militant is still hold up in the area as combing operation continues.

Srinagar witnessed two terror attacks on Monday morning leaving three policemen dead. The attacks occurred in the Zadibal and Tengpora area.

First, terrorists attacked a police convoy near the Zadibal police station killing two policemen. Assistant Police Inspector Nazeer Ahmed and Constable Bashir Ahmed were killed in the attack.

In the second attack, the gunmen opened fire at a CRPF post in Tengpora, Batamaloo, killing another cop.

Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed the responsibility for today's attacks.

There is high suspicion that the police was purposely targeted by the militants.

However, the confirmation is yet to come from the police.

The incident comes two days after an encounter in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the attacks on policemen in Srinagar is a worrying development.

The police is trying to search the militants and nab them as soon as possible.
