New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday swore in as the Chief Minister of Assam at a ceremony attended by top BJP dignitaries.
In a gala attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP supremos such as Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Kiren Rijiju and Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday in Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal, who had earlier resigned from the post of Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, assumed official responsibility as the Chief Minister of Assam. Sonowal took oath as the new CM of Assam in the gala where the former CM of Assam and Congress leader Tarun Gogoi was also present.

All NDA ministers were present at the ceremony including top leaders of the BJP.
BJP had a resounding victory in the state assembly elections in Assam, following which, BJP's President Amit Shah had remarked in a press conference that Congress was rapidly being wiped out all over India.
