Congress targets Big B's role, Amitabh Bachchan to host 2-yr of Modi govt.
New Delhi: Amitabh Bachchan is facing flak by the Congress party that on Wednesday raised a hue and cry over his name being selected for hosting an event, to celebrate the two years of Modi government.
As per current update, Big B has said that it is Bollywood actor R Madhavan who will be hosting the event instead of him.
Following the Congress attack, the BJP immediately came in support of the veteran actor asserting that the Congress is intentionally making an issue of sorts, simply to deflect the nation from their tarnished image.
Congress is, incidentally, questioning the actor over his name being involved in the Panama papers case, allegedly for suspicion on stashing black money abroad.
It is noteworthy here that in the mid-80s, Amitabh Bachchan was a Congress party MLA and was considered close to the party and now appears to be on the other side.
Earlier during a film's promotional event, Abhishek Bachchan on being asked by a media person on Big B's role in hosting the function celebrating two years of Modi government had said, "He is not hosting any political event; he is a part of the function where he is talking about educting the girl child ('Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao')."
According to the reports, the government has listed its programmes like Jan Dhan yojna, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Jyoti Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna and rural employment guarantee scheme to be showcased at the event and the actor, Amitabh Bachchan will be hosting just a segment at the event by the name "Beti bacho, Beti Padhao".
