Chandigarh: Two home guard jawans and two locals were injured on Wednesday during an anti-encroachment drive in Sirsa City in Haryana. According to police reports, the police was acting on the court orders to remove the encroachments from a residential area in Sirsa.

The police also had to face a stiff resistance from those who were to be evicted.

"They first blocked roads at two places. We tried to persuade them to cooperate, but they did not listen. Soon afterwards they pelted stones at us resulting in injuries to two persons and two home guard jawans. A police bus was also damaged during stone pelting by the mob," SHO, Sirsa City, Subhash Chander said.

He said the area SDM, Tehsildar and other officials of the district administration along with police force had reached the spot to carry out the court orders.

Shubhash Chander further added that the situation was later brought under control.
