Mumbai: The life line of Mumbai, the Mumbai Locals came to an abrupt halt on Wednesday evening following multiple technical glitches that developed after light showers in the city.
Thousands of the passengers who were traveling in the trains were stuck for over 2 hours on the Central, Western and Harbour lines in Mumbai, bringing half of Mumbai to a standstill.
As per reports, an overhead wire snapped near Vikhroli railway station leading to technical difficulties. In view of the sensitivity of the situation the power was cut-off. This led to a complete standstill in the rail service and passengers remained stuck in the trains. One of the trains got stuck in a tunnel at Parsik Hill, beyond Thane where the passengers complained of suffocation.
There were reports of overhead wires snapping at Sion, Vikhroli and Mahim stations too.
