New Delhi: Former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s convoy was attacked on Thursday after a clash between the police and protestors over the killing of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) minister Sudesh Paswan in Bihar.

Manjhi was on his way to meet Paswan’s family when the mob started throwing stones at his car. The LJP minister was killed yesterday when his car was caught in the clashes.

The villagers lost their cool on seeing a police vehicle and vented their anger by setting it on fire. Minutes later, Jitan Ram Manjhi arrived at the spot and was advised by police to not proceed further given the tense situation in the area.

The ex-chief minster’s pilot vehicle was set on fire and the police had to use batons and fired in the air to control the crowd.

However the former Chief Minister escaped unhurt.
