New Delhi: The state of Uttarakhand witnessed several episodes of massive cloudbursts on Saturday afternoon of May 28.
A massive cloudburst in Uttarakhand's Tehri district on Saturday afternoon of May 28 has led to widespread destruction. 
As per current reports, the Gangotri-Kedarnath road has been damaged, and a 20-metre portion of the road has been swept away by the fast-flowing waters. 
Though there are no reports of anyone being injured or lives lost, the closing of the Gangotri-Kedarnath road has stranded many of the pilgrims who were on their way to Kedarnath.
This recent episode of unexpected rain has caused panic in the area and the administration is making all efforts to get the situation under control.
The cloudburst in the Ghansali area of Tehri district, caused devastation where houses were seriously damaged and there is news of a school having been swept away. Several houses got buried under the mudslides as a result of the cloudburst.
Roads in Chamiyala and Bhenswara areas were blocked due to the landslide. The local administration along with the police is trying to clear the area.
Local authorities and disaster management teams are also trying to take stock of the situation.
As per information from the Met department there was an unexpected change in weather. Dark clouds suddenly surrounded the hills and caused darkness during the afternoon. Heavy rain along with strong winds pelted the area. 
A hailstorm in the Jakholi district of Rudraprayag destroyed the crops in the area.
