New Delhi: Displaying their anger against water and power crisis in Delhi, the Congress party on Saturday launched a ‘Mashal Juloos’ against the Aam Aadmi Party government in the capital.
Led by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, the protest march started from Rajghat and concluded at Delhi Secretariat.
However, when the protest march was on, the Delhi Police barged in and stopped the Congress from using torches
(mashal) or lanterns during their ‘Mashaal Juloos’ while showing their agitation against the Kejriwal government in Delhi.
A few days ago, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too had protested outside CM Kejriwal’s residence over erratic electricity and water supply in the city.
The national capital has been reeling under massive power cuts with some areas facing outages for around five hours.
Areas like Okhla, Lodhi Colony, Bhogal, Nizamuddin, Jangpura Extension, Masjid Moth, Malviya Nagaar, Kalkaji and parts of Lajpat Nagar and South Extension, have been facing power cuts in the range of two to five hours, making life difficult for the residents in the blistering heat.
