Davangere: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the ‘Vikas Parva’ rally in Karnataka’s Davangere.

Apart from addressing the rally, he also inaugurated the Ujwal scheme of NDA government in the state. While addressing the rally, Modi not only refrained from attacking a segment of the media, but also the liberal intelligentsia who have been critical of him and his party.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district unit president T.G. Narendranath, on Wednesday said that a rally will also be held on the occasion to highlight the achievements of the Union government, including Jan Dhan, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padao and other schemes.

Few statements made by the Prime Minister while addressing the rally are:

“Pundits sitting in Delhi, inside their AC rooms are predicting ways to change the nation. But the real change comes from the ground. These people who work beneath the sun are the ones who bring in the real change. My government is committed to work because we have support of everyone on the ground. The one’s sitting in air conditioned room in Delhi have no idea why people support me. They have no idea why people have gathered here in large numbers despite the sweltering heat.”

“I want to thank the people for coming here and giving momentum to the development process in the country. Without your support, Modi would not have been able to perform.”

“Within few days after taking charge in office, we were asked to give audit of the work done by government. We were asked for audit because there are few people in country who talk about democracy but cannot accept the mandate given by the people. But they have got their answers from the nation, who has chosen development above obstructionism. We will continue to carry forward our agenda of development, despite several hurdles being laid in our ways by those who cannot digest development.”

"You don't even get a cup of tea for Re. 1 today; used to get it when I used to sell tea. Today, people can get life insurance schemes at Rupee 1; also, surveys have highlighted that the biggest achievement of this Govt is 'Swacch Bharat’ campaign which shows that the campaign has gained momentum".
