NEW DELHI: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Sunday asked ministers and officials of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government to refer all the files on various issues directly to him.
“The role of Chief Minister and the council of ministers is to aid and advise him,” said Jung referring the constitution the GNCTD Act 1991 and Transaction of Business Rules 1993 which feature the relationship between LG and Chief Minister’s office.
According to the statement from LG’s office, “The role of the Chief Minister and the Council of ministers is to aid and advise the Lt. Governor where all files related to the matter should come to the Lt. Governor for the final approval.”
The direction came after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed that all files with respect to reserved subjects like public order, land and police should be routed to the Lieutenant Governor’s office through him.
In a letter sent on April 29, Kejriwal had directed all departments under the state government to not bother the office of the Lieutenant Governor by sending all the files to him.
