Gurugram: A group of unidentified men on Monday vandalised the statue of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kanshi Ram inside the Ambedkar Bhavan in Gurgaon.

The video of the vandalism was caught on a CCTV camera. In the video, a masked man is seen approaching the statue of Kanshi Ram and immediately destructing it with a hammer.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier demanded a Bharat Ratna award for Kanshi Ram.

Saheb Kanshi Ram (15 March 1934 – 9 October 2006), also known as Bahujan Nayak or Saheb, was an Indian politician and social reformer who worked for the upliftment and political mobilisation of the Bahujans and Dalits, the untouchable groups at the bottom of the caste system in India, according to a source.
