Bank employee dies in an accidental firing

Thiruvananthapuram: An employee in a private bank at Thalassery town in Kannur district of Kerala died on Thursday morning in an accidental firing.

The incident took place at the bank branch when a security guard accidentally fired his service weapon while he was cleaning it up.

The deceased has been identified as Dilna Vinod from Melur in Dharmadam panchayat.

According to preliminary finding, the victim died of bullet injury in her head. She was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Police have detained the security staff identified as Hareendran for questioning.
