Jammu: In an incident reported from Jammu on Thursday, June 2, three people including two women were arrested by the police for the possession and manufacturing of illicit liquor in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per sources, the police team laid a check point and intercepted the two women who were allegedly carrying around 50 pouches of liquor.

The two women have been identified as Chanchla Devi and Pooja, both residents of Katra. A case under various sections of Excise Act has been registered, said a police official.

The third accused, Onkar Singh, a resident of Arnas area in Reasi, was arrested when a police team conducted a raid at his house after receiving information regarding the manufacturing of country liquor at his residence.

2.5 liters of country liquor and 20 liters of ‘Lahan’ (raw material used for preparation of country liquor) and other material were recovered from Onkar’s residence.

As per a police official, the accused was arrested and booked under various sections of Excise Act at Arnas police station.
